The Jive Cape Town Funny Festival: A Unique Blend of Humour and Entertainment

The Jive Cape Town Funny Festival has become a beloved event in the city’s entertainment scene, drawing audiences from all over the world. The festival’s unique blend of humour and entertainment has captured the hearts of audiences for over two decades, making it a staple in Cape Town’s cultural calendar.

A Popular Annual Event

The festival takes place annually from June to July and is hosted at the iconic Baxter Theatre. This historic venue has been a significant cultural landmark in Cape Town and has played host to some of the world’s most talented performers.

A Remarkable Lineup

This year’s festival promises to be just as remarkable as previous years, featuring a mix of local and international acts. Alan Committie will serve as the master of ceremonies for the entire festival, while Emo Adams will perform in all shows except for 30 June. Larry Soffer, the illusionist extraordinaire, will be a full-time performer at the festival. Daredevil Chicken, the critically acclaimed comedy troupe from the USA, will also be performing throughout the festival. The winner of the Jive Funny Championships will also make an appearance during the event. Schalk Bezuidenhout will perform only on Monday, 5 June, and Saturday, 17 June. Marc Lottering will take the stage from Tuesday, 20 June to Saturday, 24 June only. Riaad Moosa will perform on Sunday, 25 June, Tuesday, 27 June, and Saturday, 1 July only.

A Platform for Social Change

In addition to providing entertainment and showcasing Cape Town’s talent, the Funny Festival has also become a platform for social change. Over the years, the festival has raised funds for various charitable causes, including the Red Cross Children’s Hospital and the Smile Foundation, making a real difference in the lives of those in need.

Tickets and Information

Tickets for the festival start at R210 and can be booked through Quicket. The Jive Cape Town Funny Festival 2023 promises to be a great time for all, bringing laughter and joy to the city while also contributing to social change.
