The Springboks’ Journey to the 2023 Rugby World Cup

With the 2023 Rugby World Cup quickly approaching, rugby fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the Springboks’ 33-man squad on Tuesday. After an impressive Rugby Championship campaign, the South African team has secured victories over Australia and Argentina, while losing to the formidable All Blacks.

Before embarking on their quest for glory in France, the Springboks have scheduled a series of warm-up fixtures against Argentina, Wales, and the All Blacks. These matches will provide valuable experience and practice for the team and are set to take place in Buenos Aires, Cardiff, and London, respectively.

The Springboks have been placed in Pool B for the World Cup, alongside Scotland, Ireland, Tonga, and Romania. The team’s journey through this diverse pool promises to test their mettle, requiring adaptability, skill, and teamwork. The final squad for the World Cup will be revealed on Tuesday, 8 August.

They then faced the All Blacks in Auckland, where they suffered a 35-20 loss. However, the team bounced back, defeating Argentina 22-21 at Ellis Park, Johannesburg.

World Cup Fixtures

The Springboks’ campaign in the Rugby World Cup will kick off on 10 September against Scotland at Stade Vélodrome, Marseille. Subsequent matches include facing Romania at Stade de Bordeaux, Bordeaux, on 17 September, Ireland at Stade de France, Saint-Denis, Paris, on 23 September, and concluding with a match against Tonga at Stade Vélodrome, Marseille, on 1 October.
