Despite her attempts to wake him up, he remained unresponsive, and she called for help. The ambulance arrived, but it took an hour and a half to stabilize him. Hougaard’s lungs are not functioning properly, and he now relies on a ventilator to breathe.

The ICU’s visiting restrictions have further complicated matters for Hougaard’s loved ones. Currently, only immediate family members are allowed to visit, as doctors estimate a 50% chance of him emerging from his coma.
