The Title Deeds Roadshow in Makhaza, Khayelitsha

On June 28, 2023, the City Human Settlements Directorate’s Title Deeds Roadshow arrived in Makhaza, Khayelitsha. The roadshow aims to facilitate the distribution of title deeds to beneficiaries of historic housing programs, including those from older RDP projects.

Progress and Challenges

After successfully helping hundreds of beneficiaries in areas such as Mandela Park and Kuyasa, the roadshow will continue to cover other parts of the metro in the coming months. Alderman James Vos, Acting Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, expressed his satisfaction with the progress. However, one of the major challenges faced by the roadshow has been locating beneficiaries from projects completed 10 or 20 years ago.

Overcoming Communication Issues

To address this issue, communication efforts have expanded beyond the metro, aiming to locate beneficiaries who have relocated elsewhere. Alderman Vos expressed his gratitude to the Human Settlements officials for their unwavering dedication to helping residents and looks forward to assisting more individuals throughout other areas of the city in the weeks ahead.

Secure Your Property Rights

Since 2013, the City has successfully transferred over 12,000 properties in historic developments and issued title deeds to beneficiaries across the metro. The Title Deeds Roadshow highlights the importance of property ownership and the impact it has on the lives of beneficiaries. The positive response to this initiative demonstrates the need for such programs in assisting residents in securing their property rights and enjoying the advantages that come with home ownership.

How to Obtain More Information

For those interested in obtaining more information on the Title Deeds Roadshow or the process of claiming title deeds, there are several ways to do so. The first option is to visit a City Housing Office or contact the Human Settlements Call Centre at 021 444 0333. By utilizing these resources, beneficiaries can ensure they receive the necessary assistance in obtaining their title deeds and gaining the security and benefits that come with owning a home.
