The Western Cape Education Department Launches a Leadership Academy

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is committed to nurturing talented leadership in the education sector. To achieve this, the department has introduced a Leadership Academy based within the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute. The academy aims to provide various training programs, courses, conferences, and seminars to support schools throughout the Western Cape district.

The School Leadership and Management Programme

One of the flagship programs of the Leadership Academy is the School Leadership and Management Programme. This year, the programme will provide training to 88 current and prospective school leaders. The WCED has put together engaging, innovative, informative, and inspiring course content, which uses a hybrid delivery model that combines face-to-face sessions, online learning, and webinars.

Developing Leaders with Purpose

The programme’s primary focus is to develop a deeper understanding of leadership among participants. This includes a focus on themselves, their teams, and their schools. The program aims to instil a strong sense of values and purpose, providing participants with the tools they need to lead their schools effectively.

Tracking Progress and Achieving Positive Change

The WCED is committed to closely monitoring the development of participants throughout the programme. The department hopes to see sustainable, positive change in the schools of those who complete the programme.

The Leadership Academy is a significant new initiative by the WCED to provide training and support to school leaders in the Western Cape district. The School Leadership and Management Programme is a flagship offering that aims to develop leaders with purpose who can make a positive difference in their schools.
