This Is Cape Town Magazine: Showcasing Local Brilliance and Economic Growth

In a world that is increasingly interconnected through digital means, a new and appealing magazine named This Is Cape Town has emerged to showcase the vibrant city of Cape Town, South Africa, and its many wonders. The Place Marketing Department within the Economic Growth Directorate conceived this biannual publication with the aim of inspiring readers with authentic, unique, and valuable stories about the people, places, and products that make Cape Town an extraordinary place.

Boosting Tourism and Economic Growth

As part of the city’s efforts to boost tourism and economic growth, This Is Cape Town complements the recently launched “Choose Cape Town” campaign, which beckons travelers and investors to consider the Mother City as their top choice for unforgettable experiences and lucrative business ventures. By promoting the city’s diverse industries, the magazine aims to serve as a conduit for locally-loved goods and services to gain worldwide appeal.

Global Reach

Strategically, This Is Cape Town will be featured in airport lounges across South Africa and on Kenya Airways’ international flights to 40 destinations worldwide. Additionally, it will be accessible in the lounge at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. This collaboration stems from the city-to-city agreement between Cape Town and Nairobi, signed by Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis during a trade mission a few months back. To augment its global reach, This Is Cape Town will be promoted through targeted social media campaigns and distributed at major international events, such as World Travel Market (WTM) London and WTM Africa.

Fulfilling the Mayor’s Vision

To fulfill Mayor Hill-Lewis’s vision of creating a tourism-related job in every household, five critical areas have been identified: aviation, cruise travel, events and conferences, SMME product development, and destination marketing. This Is Cape Town magazine aims to feature diverse industries thriving in the region and present them to the world. Each arriving traveler in Cape Town presents an invaluable opportunity to boost the local economy, and the magazine seeks to capitalize on this opportunity.

Outstanding Content

The first issue of This Is Cape Town is brimming with outstanding content, showcasing the city’s unique blend of culture, history, and innovation. The next edition is planned for release in April 2024. As the magazine remains dynamic, each issue captures the ever-evolving spirit of Cape Town and its exciting developments.

Captivating Allure of Cape Town

For those seeking a taste of the distinctive blend of culture, history, and innovation that defines Cape Town, This Is Cape Town magazine is an unparalleled source of inspiration. As it reaches a global audience, this publication will undoubtedly propel Cape Town to new heights of economic growth and international recognition.
