Transport Minister Ms. Sindisiwe Chikunga to lead 2023/24 Department of Transport Budget Vote activities

From May 15th to 18th, a series of events will take place covering various aspects of transportation, with Transport Minister Ms. Sindisiwe Chikunga leading the activities.

On May 15th and 16th, Minister Chikunga will conduct oversight visits to the Huguenot Tunnel and the passenger rail Northern Line projects in Cape Town.

Presenting the Budget Vote to the National Assembly

Minister Chikunga will present her first Budget Vote to the National Assembly on May 17th at 2 pm. However, before that, she will hold a media briefing on the Transport Budget Vote at the Imbizo Media Centre in Parliament at noon on May 17th.

Media Breakfast and Panel Discussion

Following the Budget Vote presentation, Minister Chikunga will host a media breakfast on May 18th. During the breakfast, a panel discussion will delve into the details of the budget.

Week-long Itinerary

Minister Chikunga’s week-long itinerary will include visits to infrastructure projects, engaging with road users, observing rail infrastructure progress, and discussing key transport issues with media representatives and stakeholders.

Invitation to Media

Members of the media are invited to join the Minister’s activities and attend the events. However, they must confirm their attendance in advance and present the necessary identification documentation.
