As an MPL, Mpisi was appointed to the Portfolio Committee on Education in 2014, later chairing the Portfolio Committee on Finance before returning to Education. He held the Department of Education accountable for providing quality education to Gauteng learners and was known for his integrity, courage, and unwavering commitment to social change.
