Additionally, two male suspects, aged 37 and 40, were arrested and charged under the Northern Cape Nature Conservation Act 9/2009 sec 50 & 51 for illegally possessing endangered plants. Police stopped a white Isuzu Double Cab bakkie on the R382 road between Steinkopf and Port Nolloth and discovered ten 50kg bags containing 4485 Conophytum Bilobum plants. The Isuzu bakkie was also seized, as it was reportedly used in the crime.

Law enforcement set up roadblocks across the province, with 25 vehicle checkpoints and eight roadblocks resulting in 1631 vehicles being stopped and searched, and 4637 people searched.
