Uphill Battle for Good: Ayanda Majozi Takes on the Cableway Charity Challenge to Aid Vulnerable Cape Town Communities

Ayanda Majozi, a Table Mountain National Park ranger, is embarking on a nine-day journey to participate in the Cableway Charity Challenge. The event is a unique fundraising initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable women and children in Cape Town. It will conclude on May 14, 2023, and has attracted the attention of casual and seasoned athletes eager to make a difference.

Ayanda’s Determination

Ayanda’s unwavering determination is evident in his words. He declared, “I am ready for the challenge,” before the event’s commencement. Megan Taplin, TMNP Park Manager, expressed her pride in people like Ayanda, who strive to make a difference through public events. “All the best, Ayanda, and we’re proud of you,” she said.

The Cableway Charity Challenge

Organized by the JDI Foundation, in collaboration with the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company, the Cableway Charity Challenge invites participants to climb the Platteklip Gorge as often as possible from sunrise to sunset. Upon conquering the ascent, athletes return to the base via the cable car, only to begin the climb anew.

These courageous efforts will benefit Cape Town charities serving disadvantaged communities.

Charities Involved

Among the charities involved is Abalimi Bezekhaya, an urban farming organization that provides training on organic food production to promote nutrition, health, and income generation. In addition, Funda Kunye focuses on the holistic development and education of young children in the Hout Bay neighborhoods of Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg. Lastly, Mother City Kitchen donates nutritious meals to disadvantaged community groups citywide.
