In addition, minor quantities of drugs and assorted ammunition calibers were found. These discoveries were swiftly confiscated, and an adult male was detained on charges of prohibited firearm possession, illegal ammunition possession, and drug possession.

Despite the day’s accomplishments, the officers’ work was far from complete. As night fell, around 11:45 PM, the team regrouped, ready to chase another lead. The new tip-off indicated the existence of illegal firearms at a property on Lantana Street, Paarl East. With the backing of Cape Winelands Crime Intelligence, Breederiver K9 Unit, and Boland POPS, they initiated their operation. Their tenacity bore fruit once again, leading to the seizure of a revolver, eight ammunition rounds, and a small drug stash. A 34-year-old male discovered at the scene was apprehended.

The suspects detained from the day and night operations are set to face the Mitchells Plain and Paarl Magistrates’ courts respectively, pending the formal filing of charges against them.
