Western Cape Infrastructure Supports Citizens with Extended Housing Services during Public Service Month

In celebration of Public Service Month, the Western Cape Department of Infrastructure is expanding its public services to assist residents with a range of housing inquiries. This annual celebration highlights the importance of public service and the commitment of officials to serve the residents of Western Cape.

Additional Services and Expanded Business Hours

The Help Desk team of the Department will be available to provide assistance to residents regarding various housing-related inquiries, including landlord-tenant disputes, subsidies and programs, general housing inquiries, affordable housing programs, military veterans housing assistance, tips for homeowners, and assistance from the Housing Development Agency.

To provide better access to housing information, the Department has organized events at several venues with extended hours and services during September.

Schedule of Events

Residents can attend the following events to get clarity and avail of much-needed services:

  1. 7-8 September, Thusong Mobile Outreach: Time: 9am – 3pm, Groendal Community Hall, Groenendal, Stellenbosch
  2. 9 September, 9am – 1pm, 27 Wale Street, Cape Town CBD
  3. 19-20 September, Thusong Mobile Outreach: Time: 11am – 3pm, Goudini VGK Church Hall, Denova, Rawsonville, Worcester
  4. 23 September, 9am – 1pm, 27 Wale Street, Cape Town CBD

Commitment to Serve Residents

Ms. Jacqueline Gooch, Head of Department, expressed her commitment to serving residents during Public Service Month. She hopes to assist more citizens in tapping into housing subsidies, programs, and support available to them.

Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure, Tertuis Simmers, emphasized the importance of being an accessible public service. The Department not only commemorates Public Service Month but also ensures that the needs of citizens are catered for.

Public Services

The Department offers public services from 7:30 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday, at 27 Wale Street, Cape Town. Additionally, residents can visit their local municipal housing office for any government housing-related queries.
