Haute Cabrière - the home of Pierre Jourdan

Springtime in the Franschhoek Valley means new leaves on the budding vines and fresh tastes on the menu at the Terrace Restaurant at Haute Cabrière. Nestled in the rugged slopes of the mountains above Franschhoek village, the Von Arnim family has lovingly cared for this beautiful farm for two generations. It offers exceptional views of the valley beyond.

The Terrace Restaurant of Haute Cabrière

The indoor-outdoor, light-drenched Terrace Restaurant has been designed to maximize the unbridled vine and valley views. The French-with-a-South-African-twist menus are accessible and change with the seasons. The new spring menu celebrates life, stories, excellent food, and wine, reflecting the von Arnim family’s philosophy.

The starters include smoked cheese and pea arancini in a pea velouté, mussels steamed with Pierre Jourdan cap classique, and beef tartare with Parmesan and parsley oil. Mains feature vegetarian ravioli with spinach, artichokes, and luscious sliced sirloin mushrooms and asparagus. Finish with indulgent Malva pudding with a miso butterscotch sauce, a rich praline tart, or the innovative spring freshness of chardonnay mousse with verjuice jelly and frozen green grapes.

While spring might put you in the mood for bubbly, we recommend picking at least one dish to pair with one of the notable réserve wines and blends (all available by the glass) that Haute Cabrière is renowned for. In addition, the exceptional pinot noir pairings will enhance your meal.

Operating Hours and Cost of Haute Cabrière

Haute Cabrière offers lunch from Thursday to Monday from 12 pm to 3.30 pm, with a delicious weekend brunch available from 9 am to 11 am on Saturdays and Sundays. The cost is R320 for two courses or R390 for three courses.

The Terrace Restaurant Experience

Haute Cabrière’s Terrace Restaurant is a must-visit destination in Franschhoek. The view is stunning, and the food and wine are exceptional. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable, and the service is excellent. The outdoor terrace is the perfect spot to soak up the sun and enjoy the views of the valley.

You can also explore the tasting cellar or the bakery, offering freshly baked croissants and macarons. The venue offers delivery service and is wheelchair accessible.
