The Directorate has achieved several predetermined goals, including proactive prevention patrols, technological investments, budget expenditure, and staff training and development programs.

The performance indicators achieved by the Directorate serve as a testament to the remarkable progress made in operational directives, service delivery, and enforcement initiatives. The Portfolio Committee also monitors budgetary spending, project implementation, and staffing matters such as employee training and vacancies.

Councillor Mzwakhe Nqavashe, the Portfolio Committee Chairperson, emphasized that while the focus is often on the enforcement officers, there is a vast internal operation that guides the enforcement output visible to the public.

The successful integration of drone technology proved to be a game-changer, with 930 flights conducted by the Metro Police Department through a contractually appointed service provider. These flights were carried out for both planned and emergency incidents across the city.

Councillor Nqavashe explained that the Directorate has a variety of well-established performance indicators, which continuously evolve with new initiatives, technology, and methods. These indicators ensure accountability and demonstrate that the Directorate is fulfilling its promises.
