The Human Settlements Roadshow represents the City of Cape Town’s latest initiative to address the pressing need for affordable housing and to build trust with communities across the metro area. By bringing essential services and engaging directly with residents, the roadshow is making a tangible difference to the lives of Capetonians.

Engaging with Communities

Embarking on its journey in early September, the roadshow has already visited various areas throughout the city, such as Kensington, Kuils River, Langa, Morningstar, and Westlake. The initiative has been met with enthusiasm from residents, transforming the way they interact with the City’s Human Settlements staff members.

Councillor Carl Pophaim, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, highlighted the importance of connecting with residents and providing targeted assistance. “Working directly with our residents and earning their trust is the type of delivery I take very seriously,” he noted.

Services Available

The Human Settlements Roadshow is equipped to assist residents with a variety of enquiries, including title deeds (new and historical), C3 notifications, specific project information, Housing Needs Register applications, tenancy management, affordable housing enquiries, and informal settlement queries.

In the coming weeks, the roadshow will visit various neighborhoods, including Browns Farm, Lotus River, and Milnerton. See the schedule below for more information:

  • 14 September 2023: Subcouncil 13 at Crossroads Multi-purpose Hall, Crossroads (09:00 – 14:00)
  • 19 September 2023: Subcouncil 1 at EDC Hall Wolwerivier Informal Settlement, Old Mamre Road (09:00 – 14:00)
  • 22 September 2023: Subcouncil 18 at Lotus River Multi-purpose Centre, Buck Road (09:00 – 14:00)
  • 26 September 2023: Subcouncil 13 at Browns Farm Hall, Corner of Amsterdam and Bristol Road, Browns Farm (09:00 – 14:00)
  • 28 September 2023: Subcouncil 3 at Joe Slovo Hall, 4c Freedom Way, Phoenix, Milnerton (09:00 – 14:00)

Addressing Cape Town’s Housing Crisis
