The menu offers classic sides such as Chakalaka, Pap and smoor, or Braai mielie with harissa aioli and coconut. For those seeking lighter fare, the Heritage Day menu features Biltong soup with a matured cheddar cheese straw, or an innovative rendition of Bobotie, served as a crisp rice taco accompanied by egg custard, spiced prune chutney, and tomato salsa.

The main course offers a delicious plant-based potato, spinach, and feta pie or a hearty Dombolo, a succulent lamb stew with steamed bread and baby vegetables. This dish is best enjoyed with a glass of Brookdale’s newly launched Mason Road GSM, a unique blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, and Petit Syrah.

Sweet Endings

For dessert, guests can indulge in Chef Gary’s fusion creation of ‘Milk Tart meets Hertzoggie’, a coconut and cinnamon custard tart with apricot gel, honey, and apricot gelato, topped with a cinnamon crumb. For a more savory finale, a platter of delectable South African cheeses can be relished along with a glass of the limited-release Mason Road Cap Classique.

Weekend Getaway

For those seeking to extend their gastronomic adventure into a luxurious weekend getaway, Brookdale Manor House is offering an exclusive overnight stay for South African residents. The package includes breakfast and complimentary wine tasting for two at their sophisticated Tasting Room.

Celebrating South African Flavors

In the spirit of Heritage Day, the Bistro at Brookdale Estate provides the perfect opportunity to explore, appreciate, and savor the rich culinary legacy of South Africa. Each dish is an ode to the nation’s diverse flavors and a celebration of its gastronomic heritage.
