A Menu Highlighting South African Flavors and Dishes

The Heritage Day menu features an assortment of flavors and dishes. A vegan main course option consists of a potato, spinach, and feta pie, served with a chickpea, avocado, and sun-dried tomato salad. Alternatively, patrons can savor the hearty dombolo and lamb stew with baby vegetables, artfully paired with Brookdale’s recently released Mason Road GSM – a blend of grenache, syrah, cinsault, and petit syrah.

The menu also offers lighter options such as biltong soup with a mature cheddar cheese straw or a modern twist on bobotie, presented in a crispy rice taco with egg custard, spiced prune chutney, and tomato salsa. Classic side dishes like chakalaka, pap and smoor, or braai mielie with harissa aioli and coconut can accompany any meal.

For dessert, Chef Gary presents a delightful combination named “Milk Tart meets Hertzoggie.” This delicious creation features a coconut and cinnamon custard tart with apricot gel, honey and apricot gelato, and a sprinkle of cinnamon crumb. Guests who prefer savory options can enjoy a selection of South African cheeses, including Cremezola, Gay’s Prince Albert, Belnori Ash Log, and Dalewood Brie, skillfully paired with a glass of the limited-release Mason Road Cap Classique.
