We needed to honour him; we kept his memory alive in story. So Simon is still a big part of the story, even though the physicality of the character is not there.”

Connie expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am really honoured and blessed to win this award and thank you to NFTA and all who voted for us. This is the first year, and I am looking forward to celebrating next year and many more years to come with the National Film & TV Awards South Africa.”

During an earlier podcast interview with DJ Fresh, Connie discussed the moments she reminisces about her late husband, which Fresh dubbed as the “Sho moment.” For Connie, every “belly laugh moment” is a “SHO moment.”
