Cape Town has launched the Climate Campaigners app in partnership with the University of Cape Town and funded by the European Union. The app offers free access to sustainability-based lifestyle changes that support Cape Town’s vision for a climate-resilient, resource-efficient, and carbon-neutral city by 2050.

A Global Climate Action Tool

The Climate Campaigners app combines grassroots organizations with insights from the behavioral and social sciences to battle climate change globally. To aid users in achieving their sustainability goals, the app employs behavioral science principles to assist people in overcoming their biases and act more empathetically.

A Low-Key and Non-Invasive Climate Campaigners App

The Climate Campaigners app is a low-key and non-invasive app that proposes exciting challenges to inspire Capetonians to make small changes that can significantly contribute to the City’s climate goals. These challenges include saving water and energy, improving mobility, and engaging in environmentally friendly consumption.

A Community-Based Platform

The Climate Campaigners app is a community-based platform that provides advice, inspiration, and real-time analysis of users’ CO2 savings. It also offers a network for like-minded campaigners to encourage and share experiences.

A Global Rollout of Climate Campaigners App

In addition to Cape Town, the initial deployment of the Climate Campaigners app includes 13 additional cities worldwide, such as Milan, Dublin, and La Libertad in El Salvador. Each City’s problems are unique and designed to meet those cities’ particular requirements. Throughout its two-year duration, the project wants to expand to more cities.
