The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness, in partnership with the City of Cape Town’s Health Department, is working towards improving healthcare services in Atlantis, a town located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Services Offered

City Health has been providing vital healthcare services to the residents of Atlantis, including child health, sexual reproductive health services, basic antenatal care, treatment of sexually transmitted infections, and TB and HIV screening, testing, and treatment. The integration of these clinics will provide an even more comprehensive package of primary healthcare services. The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness plans to phase in additional services, including curative services, chronic clubs, access to a social worker, and mental health services.

Handover and Patient Appointments

The handover date for the services remains unannounced, but the City patient folders will become the property of the Western Cape healthcare facilities to ensure seamless record-keeping and quality control. The Saxon Sea and Protea Park clinics will continue to operate from Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 16:00, and remain closed over weekends and on public holidays. Existing patient appointments and treatment plans will not be affected, as City patient folders will be handed over to the Provincial Government healthcare facilities, and support will be provided by City staff for a smooth handover.

City Health Staff

As the integration process unfolds, City Health staff will be placed in other City facilities where they are needed to improve service delivery efficiency and contribute to strengthening the current service package.

The integration of the Saxon Sea and Protea Park clinics into the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness’ healthcare services is a significant change in Atlantis’ healthcare landscape. It reflects the commitment of both the City of Cape Town’s Health Department and the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness to deliver streamlined, efficient, and quality healthcare services to all residents. The health of the community remains the top priority, and clients are encouraged to maintain their appointment schedules at the newly integrated facilities.
