Richmond SAPS stock theft suspect traced and arrested in the Eastern Cape

The De Aar Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit of the South African Police Service (SAPS) recently displayed remarkable tenacity in their pursuit of a 38-year-old suspect who had been on the run for crimes that involved theft and breach of trust. The suspect was a former employee at a farm near Richmond in the Northern Cape.

The suspect had been entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of the farmer’s animals but allegedly took advantage of this position. He reportedly sold livestock worth approximately R87,000 and also broke into the farmer’s house and stole R90,000 in cash.

The SAPS officers involved in the case showed exceptional dedication in pursuing the suspect. Despite the suspect not being found at a farm near Gqeberha, the officers continued to follow every lead that came their way and eventually apprehended the suspect in Somerset East in the Eastern Cape.
