Cape Town has produced an impressive new talent in country music. Micaela Kleinsmith, a gifted singer from the area, recently won the prestigious country music TV show, My Kind of Country, which aired on Apple TV. The show showcased the finest up-and-coming country music talents worldwide, and Kleinsmith emerged victorious from among the many incredible singers who auditioned. Her win is a testament to her talent and hard work.

Pursuing Her Dream

Kleinsmith’s journey to becoming a successful singer was not an easy one. She spent years teaching herself about the vocal attack and range and developed her skills in secret, dreaming of the day she could perform on stage. Her dedication paid off when she was selected to compete on M-Net’s Idols on Mzansi Magic during season 12, where she made it to the group rounds. This was an achievement, but for Kleinsmith, music has always been a way to cope with life’s difficulties. As a child, she was heavily bullied and turned to music to escape. When she realized she had a talent for singing, she used it to connect with others and make new friends.

An International Platform

Kleinsmith’s hard work and dedication have now paid off in a big way. She emerged victorious in a global competition backed by Reese Witherspoon and executive produced by multi-Grammy Award-winning star Kacey Musgraves. The show shattered barriers in country music and offered an extraordinary opportunity for diverse artists worldwide to showcase their talent globally. Scouts Jimmie Allen, Mickey Guyton, and South Africa’s Orville Peck selected a roster of gifted and diverse artists from across the globe who were invited to the heart of country music to showcase their unique sound and compete for the top prize. Orville Peck originally championed Kleinsmith, whose incredible vocals and evident growth as an artist throughout her journey on My Kind of Country won the scouts’ hearts.

International Exposure

As a result of her win, Kleinsmith will now receive international exposure across both Apple TV+ and Apple Music. Her EP, the Butterfly, was recently released through Platoon on Apple Music, featuring three original songs, Butterfly, Eternity, and Raise A Cup. She had the incredible opportunity to record these songs with renowned music producer Tommy Sims. She has also released a cover of The Band Perry’s If I Die Young. All of these songs are now available for streaming on Apple Music.

Kleinsmith is a true inspiration to us all, and her win on a global stage is a testament to the talent and hard work she has put into her art. She has been writing songs since the age of 14, and her journey to success has been challenging. However, her dedication, perseverance, and passion for music have all paid off. She now represents Cape Town, South Africa, and the world of country music internationally. We are excited to see what the future holds for Kleinsmith and the world of country music.
