Cape Town Embraces Marine Manufacturing Event

Cape Town’s City Council has expressed great enthusiasm in supporting a three-year contract to continue hosting Boatica Cape Town, the leading marine manufacturing event in Africa. Scheduled from October 27th to 29th, this year’s exhibition aims to be a spectacular stage for industry frontrunners, aficionados, and novices alike.

Boatica Cape Town functions as a crucial networking and learning hub for participants in marine manufacturing, offering a unique blend of business and leisure opportunities. With an astounding turnout of over 5,500 visitors and 82% of exhibitors projecting post-show business from the 2022 event, this year’s Boatica intends to surpass expectations.

Featuring more than 70 exhibitors and 50 boats, the event will also include at least three new boat launches. Boatica 2023 is set to captivate attendees with a plethora of compelling activities such as dragon-boat racing, e-foiling, deluxe cruise experiences, and chances to polish one’s sailing expertise.

Innovative Companies and Economic Impact

As the event approaches, two participating companies have been creating quite a stir within the industry. Southern Power is scheduled to reveal a revolutionary hybrid engine, while Cape Performance Sailing will exhibit their inventive Cape 31 racing boat – already attracting global attention from sailors worldwide.

The marine manufacturing industry carries significant economic relevance for both Cape Town and the worldwide community. With ocean sports valued at over R2 billion and boat-building at approximately R3 billion in South Africa, Boatica Cape Town is a crucial event on the city’s agenda.

Furthermore, studies conducted by industry collaborator BlueCape have pinpointed these sectors as high-growth areas, with ocean sports growing at a rate of 20% per annum and boat-building at 17% per annum. The ongoing success of Boatica is vital for stimulating growth and encouraging innovation within the marine manufacturing field.

Boatica Cape Town: A Hub for Innovation and Collaboration

In addition to exhibitor showcases and activities, this year’s Boatica event will also feature a BlueCape and City-sponsored booth, spotlighting the SABBEX industry award nominees from May’s Hall of Fame ceremony. This partnership demonstrates the city’s dedication to supporting and honoring the local marine manufacturing community.

Boatica Cape Town 2023 is set to be an unforgettable experience as visitors and investors from around the world come together to revel in the excitement of this flourishing industry.
