digital transformation e-services

The City is encouraging residents to embrace the conveniences of digital technology this festive season by opting for online booking services and e-Services. Municipal offices are utilizing the capabilities of technology to streamline processes and eliminate waiting queues. Residents can access a variety of online and offline payment alternatives, including the use of QR codes on invoices. This move towards digitalization reflects the City’s commitment to providing a more streamlined and efficient platform for its residents.

A Shift Towards Digital Interactions

The December holiday season has historically been marked by a rush of residents at the City’s Customer Offices. This festive season, however, the City is advocating for a shift from conventional methods to embracing the conveniences of the digital age. Residents can opt for the online booking service to handle their affairs from the comfort and convenience of their homes, or any location with an internet connection.

In a world defined by the rapid acceleration of technology, the City’s municipal offices are leaping into the future. Harnessing the capabilities of technology, the City is urging residents to explore their user-friendly online booking system and e-Services, particularly during the bustling December holiday season, which typically witnesses high footfalls at municipal offices.

A Shift Towards Digital Interactions

The December holiday season has historically been marked by a rush of residents at the City’s Customer Offices. Residents flock to these offices to settle municipal bills, renew license discs, and attend to a myriad of other official procedures. This festive season, however, the City is advocating for a shift from conventional methods to embracing the conveniences of the digital age.

Councillor Siseko Mbandezi, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, has brought attention to the variety of e-Services available to residents. With the online booking system, residents are able to handle their affairs from the comfort and convenience of their homes, or from any location with an internet connection.

Mbandezi appeals to residents, “Opt for our online booking service when needing to make a personal visit to a Customer Office.” This service is aimed at saving valuable time and eliminating waiting queues.

Holiday Operating Hours and Alternatives

It’s important to be aware that certain services such as payment and account enquiries, motor vehicle licensing offices, driver’s licence testing centres, and Human Settlements offices will not be operational on certain festive season days. As such, residents are advised to check the City’s website or make a phone call before planning a visit.

Moreover, the City’s municipal offices, which include cash, motor vehicle registration and licensing, Human Settlements offices, Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTCs) and municipal courts, will follow specific operating hours during the holiday season. Acknowledging these timings can assist in planning any necessary visits effectively.

For those who prefer conducting their official tasks at shopping centres, the Liberty Promenade, Table Bay Mall, and Lansdowne Corner Mall will also observe unique operating hours during the holiday season.

Streamlining the Online Booking Process

To make the online booking experience even more seamless, there’s a useful YouTube video available that directs residents on how to maneuver the process. The video can be accessed via a link on the City’s official website.

Residents who wish to register for these e-Services can do so by visiting the City’s eServices portal. For queries related to motor vehicle registration and licensing, a dedicated email address has been provided to ensure swift and effective support.

Simplifying Payments

The process for making municipal and City rental payments has been significantly simplified with numerous online and offline alternatives. Residents can opt for online payments via the Easypay or Powertime websites, make EFTs by selecting the City as a bank-listed beneficiary, or choose among a range of retailers like Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick n Pay, PEP, Ackermans, Lewis, Top It Up, Woolworths, and selected Spar shops. The City has also been included as an ATM beneficiary for those who prefer this payment method.

In a groundbreaking move, the City has integrated the use of QR codes on invoices. This QR code contains your EasyPay number and outstanding balance and offers a direct link to the payment portal. This not only streamlines the payment process but also ensures it is accurate, efficient, and secure.

A Step Towards Digitalization

The City’s endeavors to digitalize its services are highly praiseworthy, providing residents with a more streamlined and efficient platform to manage their municipal services. With the festive season fast approaching, the City encourages residents to make the smart decision and book services online! Remember, the power of technology is at your fingertips.
