Gauteng Provincial Government Hosts Jobs Fair to Combat Unemployment

As the 47th anniversary of the June 16 uprising approaches, the Gauteng Provincial Government is taking action to address the pressing issue of unemployment. The launch of the Jobs Fair Campaign aims to create employment opportunities and empower residents to reach their full potential.

Identifying Vacancies and Raising Awareness

All provincial departments are working together to identify over 8,000 vacant positions ranging from entry-level to mid and senior management roles. The Jobs Fair Campaign will raise awareness of these positions and encourage skilled and motivated individuals to apply.

Advertising Vacant Positions

The first batch of vacancies will be advertised on June 16 and will remain open until July 14, 2023. More positions will be advertised in phases until all openings are filled.

Walk-In Centres and Support

To connect job seekers with potential employers, the government is deploying Members of the Executive Council (MECs), Human Resource Officials, and Data Captures across 22 walk-in centres throughout the Gauteng City Region. The Department of Employment and Labour will also provide an additional 22 centres, and libraries in the province will offer computers and free internet connectivity to support job seekers throughout the application process.

Streamlining the Application Process

To streamline the application process, job seekers are advised to bring their CVs and download and print the Z83 forms before visiting the walk-in centres. Each centre will have tables representing various departments, and dedicated staff will guide applicants through the necessary steps to submit their applications.

Online Applications

For those who prefer to apply from home, the Gauteng Jobs Portals will be accessible from June 16, 2023, to July 14, 2023. QR codes will be displayed at all walk-in centres and shared on digital platforms to enable prospective applicants to browse and apply for jobs online.

Zero-Rated Access

Vodacom has generously agreed to make the Gauteng Jobs Portals zero-rated for its subscribers during the application period. This ensures that individuals from all economic backgrounds can access and explore the wealth of public service job openings.

The Gauteng Provincial Government’s Jobs Fair Campaign aims to alleviate the socio-economic challenges faced by many in the province. By providing opportunities for gainful employment, the government is helping to build a brighter future for Gauteng and its residents. The time for change is now, and it begins with empowering the workforce through accessible, meaningful job opportunities.
