Employment and Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi is set to engage with the Northern Area of Gqeberha in an outreach session from September 5th to 7th. The focus of the outreach is on amendments to the Employment Equity Act (EEA), which includes sector-specific targets.
Objectives of the Employment Equity Amendments
The Employment Equity amendments aim to reduce the regulatory burden on small employers, empower the Minister to regulate sector-specific numerical targets, promulgate Section 53, and strengthen compliance by issuing EE compliance certificates. The primary theme of the outreach program is “Real transformation makes business sense.”
On-The-Spot Services
The Department will offer on-the-spot services to KwaNoxolo and Chetty communities on September 5th and 6th. The services offered will include registration of unemployed work-seekers, assistance with Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) claims, enquiries and complaints, Compensation Fund (CF) claims, enquiries and complaints, and addressing labor complaints related to the National Minimum Wage and other basic conditions.

On-The-Spot Services
- September 5th at George Botha Hall, KwaNoxolo, from 08h00 to 16h00.
- September 6th at Boysen Community Hall, Chetty, from 08h00 to 16h00.
Ministerial Engagement
- September 7th at Gelvandale Community Hall, Gqeberha, with service on the spot available from 08h00 to 16h00 and the ministerial engagement taking place from 12h00 to 14h00.
