Northern Cape Detectives Apprehend 116 Wanted Suspects in Coordinated Tracing Operations

Last Monday, May 29, 2023, detectives across the Northern Cape Province conducted extensive tracing operations to arrest wanted suspects who had either absconded or failed to appear in court. The operation, which lasted from 4 PM to 10 PM, was a remarkable display of coordinated investigative work.

The Tracing Operations

Led by Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Major General Mmantsheke Lekhele, the tracing operations were executed synchronously across the province, with a specific focus on individuals charged with contact crimes and property-related offenses. Before the detectives began their actions, Major General Lekhele briefed the team at the Galeshewe police station.

The Results

The tracing operations yielded impressive results, with the arrest of 116 wanted suspects involved in various criminal activities, such as common assault, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), attempted murder, robbery, theft, and malicious damage to property. Those arrested during the operation will soon appear in their respective Magistrate’s courts.
