In a surprising turn of events, Orlando Pirates are reportedly contemplating terminating the contract of Olisa Ndah, a key defender. The decision to let go of the Nigerian international arises from the dissatisfaction with his conduct and potential impact on his future.

Previous Transfer Rumors

Earlier this year, rumors surfaced that Ndah was on his way out of the Pirates, with Italian Serie A side Sassuolo being a possible destination. It was even said that the Buccaneers had provided the Italian team with their desired transfer fee. However, Ndah’s injury prevented the Italians from pursuing their interest further, resulting in the central defender staying with the Pirates.

Besides Sassuolo, a Swedish club also expressed interest in acquiring Ndah’s services. Unfortunately, the same injury that thwarted the Sassuolo deal also put an end to the Swedish club’s pursuit. As a result, Ndah has had a season of setbacks, with limited appearances on the field. His last match for the Pirates was the Soweto Derby, where he scored an unfortunate own-goal against Chiefs.

Interest from Other Clubs

Reports this week suggested that Ndah has attracted interest from other European clubs and even options in Major League Soccer (MLS). However, The Citizen reported that the player has been making behind-the-scenes efforts to secure a transfer, which has not sat well with the Pirates management.

According to a source close to the publication, “Apparently, it was known that Ndah had set his sights on going to the top European leagues at some point. It was thought that he would spend at least three seasons with the club. But that hasn’t been the case because, to be honest, he has not been playing much, and making the starting line-up is hard for him.”

The same source added, “He was not doing his best at training, and fortunately, coach Jose Riveiro doesn’t have favorites. Only players that give their best at training play at Pirates.”

Termination of Ndah’s Contract

If Orlando Pirates goes ahead with terminating Ndah’s contract, it will undoubtedly be a significant move, particularly when they are believed to be ready and willing to capitalize on his services. This situation raises questions about the future of the talented defender and the impact this development might have on his career prospects.

The unfolding drama surrounding Ndah’s potential departure from Orlando Pirates showcases the complexities of professional football, where injuries and off-field conduct can significantly impact a player’s trajectory. As the story continues to unfold, both the football community and Orlando Pirates’ fans will undoubtedly keep a close eye on the developments, which could have lasting implications for the player, the team, and the sport as a whole.
