The meeting coincides with the 15th BRICS Summit and commemorates 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership governs their relationship, and the Ten-Year Strategic Programme of Cooperation (2020-2029) details the CSP’s action plan.

South Africa and China will co-host the China-Africa Leader’s Roundtable on August 24th and engage in discussions on multilateral cooperation, particularly within the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
