Cape Town has successfully secured its position as one of the eight cities to host the HSBC SVNS, World Rugby’s rebranded sevens series. The series is set to launch in December 2023 and will provide a global platform for 12 men’s and women’s teams to showcase their rugby sevens skills. The revamped series aims to fuel rugby’s growth and allure by transforming the events into ultimate festivals, complete with immersive experiences for fans.
Cape Town has emerged as a leading destination for festivals and events in Africa, with over 1,000 diverse events hosted in the 2022/23 season. The City’s Events Coordination Committee (ECC), consisting of various City departments such as Disaster Risk Management, Metro Police, Fire Services, and Transport, has worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and logistics of these events. Now, as Cape Town gears up for another exciting season, the city’s position as a premier destination for events and entertainment is further solidified.
