An Epic Night of Rescue: The Unstoppable Wilderness Search and Rescue Team

A team of unstoppable heroes from Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) recently saved a 64yearold hiker who injured his ankle while hiking up the Platteklip Gorge trail on Table Mountain. The team, made up of volunteers, professionals, and government agencies, quickly came to the hiker’s aid, trekking across the mountain in difficult terrain to rescue him. The team’s unending dedication, preparedness, and spirit were evident throughout the fivehour operation, which ended safely with the hiker being transported to a hospital. Search and Rescue Operation for Missing Swimmer in Cape Town

A search and rescue operation is currently underway at Groot Wolfgat Beach, located between Monwabisi and Mnandi on the False Bay Coast in Cape Town, to locate a 35year old man who went missing while swimming with friends. The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) was alerted to the incident by the City of Cape Town Law Enforcement shortly after 1pm on Saturday.

Volunteers and police are currently conducting a search and rescue operation to find Julie Goodness, an American postdoctoral researcher who has been missing since Monday morning in the Table Mountain area of Cape Town, South Africa. Goodness, who has been living in Cape Town for the past 14 years, was last seen in the Higgovale area wearing a purple/pink longsleeved sports top, blue jeans, colourful sneakers, an oversized jacket, and carrying a white canvas bag.

The pair had followed a “vague trail” down Porcupine Ravine towards Camp’s Bay, and after struggling to find their way back, they called for help. Fortunately, they were assisted by a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers from the Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR), who used a drone to locate and rescue them.
