A Horrific Incident

In mid-February 2023, a video surfaced on social media, showing a man brutally abusing a cat named Kittie. The video captured the abuser throwing Kittie over a house’s roof, while his accomplice recorded the incident. The video went viral, and the Cape of Good Hope SPCA launched an investigation to trace the suspect and ensure justice for Kittie.

Justice for Kittie

Thanks to the combined efforts of SPCA inspectors and officers from the City of Cape Town law enforcement, the 17-year-old perpetrator and his accomplice were arrested in Hanover Park. Both individuals were charged with animal cruelty under the Animals Protection Act (71 of 1962). Interestingly, neither of them owned Kittie, and the cat’s true owners were unaware of the incident until the video went viral.
