The Volunteer Wildlife Services (VWS) Trail Challenge is a highly anticipated annual fundraising event that takes place against the backdrop of the iconic Table Mountain in Cape Town. This event not only provides participants with the opportunity to enjoy beautiful scenery but also supports the vital mission of VWS, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving natural heritage and protecting biodiversity.

The Route

The race starts and finishes at Gardens RFC, with participants having the option of choosing between a 10-kilometer and a 20-kilometer route. Both routes offer stunning views of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak, winding tracks in Deer Park, and an invigorating single-track contour above Tafelberg Road.

The Cause

The VWS Trail Challenge is organized and executed entirely by VWS volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to ensure that all proceeds go directly to the organization. VWS relies heavily on public donations and events like the Trail Challenge to cover operational and logistical costs associated with combating wildfires in the Western Cape region.

Post-Race Celebration

Participants have the opportunity to unwind with cold beers courtesy of Jack Black, with R5 from each beer sold being donated to the VWS fundraising initiative.
