In honor of National Women’s Day on August 9, 2023, various municipal offices and service centers will be closed, and citizens are encouraged to use online platforms for their convenience. This guide provides an overview of the office closures and alternative payment and service options available during this period.

Office Closures

On National Women’s Day, the public will not have access to municipal offices such as cash, motor vehicle registration and licensing, Human Settlements offices, Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTCs), and municipal courts. Additionally, customer offices in certain malls will also remain closed.

Online Payment Options

Despite these closures, residents can still access numerous online payment and service options. Municipal accounts can be paid through various retailers, including Shoprite/Checkers, Pick n Pay, PEP, Woolworths, USave, Ackermans, Lewis, Top It Up, and selected Spar shops. Online payments for municipal accounts are also available through www.powertime.co.za or www.easypay.co.za.

Alternative Payment Methods

Multiple alternatives are available for account payments, such as online platforms (www.Easypay.co.za or www.powertime.co.za), Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) by adding the city as a bank-listed beneficiary, retail options (Checkers, Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Spar, and Woolworths), the City’s online e-services portal, and ATM payments after contacting your bank to add the city as an ATM beneficiary. Registering on e-Services (https://eservices.capetown.gov.za/) opens up a wide range of options for residents, including renewing vehicle licenses, submitting water/electricity readings, paying municipal accounts online (debit order payment option only), viewing account history, applying to receive accounts via email, and logging service requests.

Fine Payments

Since July 1, 2022, the City has transitioned to Pay@ as the new online and retailer third-party service provider for fine payments. Motorists can view and pay fines, even those issued before July 1, 2022, online at https://www.paythat.co.za/. Electronic payment methods for fines include using VISA or Mastercard, performing EFTs through banks such as ABSA, FNB, Nedbank, Capitec, and Standard Bank, or using Scan to Pay options like Masterpass, Snapscan, Zapper, FNB, Nedbank, and ABSA.

Selected Spar shops accept payments for fines issued before July 1, 2022. For fines issued from July 1, 2022, payments can be made at selected Spar shops, as well as Ackermans, Builder’s Warehouse, Game, Makro, PEP, Pick n Pay, and Shoprite/Checkers Money Market kiosks.

The City thanks customers for their patience during the National Women’s Day closures and encourages the use of online services. Residents can continue fulfilling necessary tasks while observing the significance of this important public holiday through the convenience of these alternative options.
