The program received over 2,500 applicants, with 175 candidates shortlisted after a rigorous selection process. Finally, the program selected ten graduates from diverse educational backgrounds such as finance, supply chain management, cost and management accounting, building, and legal.

The program exposes them to dynamic and intricate processes of a large metropolitan city while gaining invaluable work experience.

Collaboration with Young Individuals

City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi, expressed his pride in collaborating with these young individuals. He emphasized the significance of providing them with the resources to learn from the City’s teams and help carve a brighter future for Cape Town. The City, fondly known as the “City of Hope,” is a place where the youth can thrive and succeed given the tools and guidance to realize their potential.

Benefits of the Internship Programme

The benefits of the internship program are not limited to the interns’ personal and professional growth. As Alderman Theresa Uys, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, points out, the training and development that occurs throughout the internship will strengthen the City’s workforce with essential skills and education. The benefits extend to the growth of the individuals’ careers and the overall enrichment of the community.
